Multiple Sclerosis and Blood Flow

Multiple Sclerosis and Blood Flow

Multiple Sclerosis and the Myelin Sheath

People diagnosed with Multiple-Sclerosis certainly have a lot of questions about how their diagnoses. Well, we hope to answer many of those questions in this blog. First, let’s talk about Multiple-Sclerosis itself and why it happens.

Why does my body react this way to Multiple-Sclerosis?

Your immune system is attacking your body’s Myeline Sheath.

What is the Myeline Sheath?

It’s a protective layer that envelopes nerves found in the brain and spinal cord. They make it possible for nerve cells to communicate with one another.

Multiple Sclerosis and CCSVI

The term Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency, which describes a compromise in the flow of blood in the veins, was first used by Italian researcher Paolo Zamboni. Zamboni’s research led him to conclude that CCSVI plays a key role in the development of MS.

What does CCSVI have to do with Multiple-Sclerosis?

Increased iron deposition to the brain triggers degeneration of the Myeline Sheath, as well as immunity.  That hinders communication among those nerves.

What causes CCSVI?

According to a recent study, a vascular condition hinders normal blood flow and may be the cause.

No one’s sure what causes this vascular condition, but it may cause iron deposition to the brain tissue via the blood brain barrier.

Upper Cervical Chiropractic and Your Blood flow

Current research to show the connection between MS and CCSVI reveals Multiple-Sclerosis is possibly either vascular or degenerative. That research also shows a misalignment in the C1 Vertebrae, which is one of the two vertebrae in the upper neck.

What’s the significance of that?

Rather than taking medication, someone with Multiple Sclerosis should focus on correcting that misalignment

I don’t feel misaligned. Does a minor misalignment in the upper neck really matter?

Yes. It only takes a misalignment of ¼ of a millimeter in the upper cervical spine to place enough pressure on the brainstem so as to hinder the brain’s ability to communicate with the body.

What health benefits will I see from correcting that misalignment?

Correcting that misalignment will normalize your body’s blood flow, and that will allow your body to begin to heal itself.

A Final Word on MS

So, we hope we answered all of your questions and more. If you have any others, an upper cervical chiropractor would be more than happy to answer them. They are able to examine your upper neck and correct any misalignments in the upper neck vertebrae using gentle and precise methods.
