Your Ongoing Neck Pain, Headaches could be caused by Whiplash

The Slightest Whiplash Pain

When a person experiences a neck injury, the effects of that injury may not be felt for days, weeks, months, or even years. A person doesn’t have to feel the pain of whiplash in order for it to have occurred, just as a homeowner doesn’t have to see the mold in order for mold to be in the walls of the home.

While it is a common misconception that a person must have suffered from a major car accident in order for them to suffer whiplash, that is also not necessarily true. This type of neck injury can occur in an accident at only Five MPH, which means that it can occur even when there are no vehicles involved.

So, if you were injured in a sport-related accident, fell or tripped, were in altercation and struck in the head, or otherwise suffered a neck injury, it is possible that you suffered from whiplash. There are some things you should know before you decide you don’t need to call your chiropractor because you don’t feel any pain.

THE MYTH: You are okay if you don’t feel pain.

THE TRUTH… Symptoms can be slight at first, and it is possible you might not even know you suffered from this type of neck injury. You can never be too careful and should be examined for any misalignments in your upper neck vertebrae, as a misalignment of only ¼ of a millimeter can lead to all sorts of health problems.

COMMON SYMPTOMS: The followings symptoms may occur days or weeks after an accident

  • Neck pain and/or stiffness
  • Blurred or double vision
  • Dizziness / Vertigo
  • Shoulder pain
  • Nausea
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus), Hearing loss
  • Numbness and tingling

  • Pain in the arms, legs, feet, hands
  • Headaches, Migraines
  • Low back pain and/or stiffness

  • and many more!

There are also various severe conditions that may result from not receiving the proper care for that neck injury, including Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Susceptibility to Infection, ADHD, Seizures, and Multiple Sclerosis. The scary thing is they may not manifest themselves until years after your accident.

Whiplash and Upper Cervical Chiropractic

Though, the good news is that while these conditions may not manifest themselves for several more years, you can do something not to be assured they’ll never become an issue. You can seek out the care of an upper cervical chiropractor, who can correct the underlying cause of your whiplash.

Perhaps, you don’t feel any pain, but pain is not necessarily a symptom of this type of neck injury. That’s why it’s important that you seek out the care of an upper cervical chiropractor. They will examine your upper neck vertebrae for any misalignments in your upper neck that may be the underlying cause of any of those health issues now or in the future.
